Question: I've never used a pet sitter before. What do I need to do to arrange for services?
Answer: You can call us at 1-203-482-5669 or email us at Furtasticpetsitters@yahoo.com to set up a free consultation. Please click here for details. A sitter will come to your home to meet with you and your precious pets, go over your pets routine and what needs to be done while you are away, and answer any questions you may have. You will need to provide a set of working keys. Please keep in mind even if you have a garage opener or alarm code, in the event of a power outage your sitter would not be able to provide care for your pets without a key.
Question:When is payment due?
Answer: For new clients the balance will be due at the consultation, after that it is due on the first day of services. For your convenience we accept cash, check, all major credit cards, and paypal (see rates page). For daily dog walking clients payment is due on the first day of service each week.
Questions: Do you provide care in your home or mine?
Answer: Pet sitting services are provided in the comfort of your own home
Question: How much notice do I need to give you to arrange for a pet sitter or dog walker to care or my pet?
Answer: Please feel free to call for last minute calls, there is no additional charges, if we have availability we will be happy to accommodate you, but to ensure that we are available we recommend as much notice as possible, it's never too early to schedule a visit. During holidays, summer and school vacations we book up quickly so it is preferable if you book services as early as possible. During the rest of the year 2-4 weeks notice is usually fine.
Question: What kind of pets do you care for?
Answer: We care for all of pets except horses...cats, birds, dogs, including reptiles, small rodents, sugar gliders, fish, goats, pigs, etc. . If we don't have experience with your type of pet we will be honest with you and ask that you show us and give us detailed instructions on the care for this pet.
Question:Are there any type of pets you do not provide care for?
Answer: Aggressive animals and pets that have a history of biting. Also, pets that have great medical needs. These pets would be better served by being boarded at a veterinarian that could provide round the clock care. Since we have ten years experience working as a veterinary technician injections, pills, liquids or subcutaneous fluids and other needs can be provided for at no additional charge. We are very familiar with shy animals and feel comfortable working with them.
Question: How many visits do you provide each day?
Answer: For dogs we provide usually 2-4 visits a day. For daily dog walking clients typically one visit a day is provided, generally in the afternoon between 11am-3pm, though mornings and evenings are available. For cats and other small animals we typically provide one visit a day, though for some cats that are extremely friendly and love attention or need medications we will provide two visits for cats as well.
Question: Does one or more sitters provide care while I am away?
Answer: One sitter will be assigned for the length of your reservation, unless otherwise discussed, We find this provides consistency and allows your pet and sitter to bond more easily. You will meet your sitter at the initial consultation.
